Mō te tūranga | About the Role
As a Change Manager, your role will be to help Westpac deliver exciting changes for its people and customers by ensuring successful change adoption. You will support business outcomes whilst building change management capability in the organisation.
This role places a strong emphasis on addressing the human aspect of change, especially in understanding its impact on our frontline teams and customers. This Change Manager role sits within the Change Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) as part of the Transformation and Customer Operations department. This role is based in Auckland.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
Delivering best practice change management activities: This covers the full lifecycle of change adoption:
- Plan: Understanding the scope of the change, identifying key stakeholders, analysing change impacts and creating visibility for our enterprise view of change.
- Readiness: Developing training, engagement and communications plans to ensure people are aware of, ready and willing to adopt the change.
- Adoption: Supporting the business and leaders to drive change adoption and identify ways to improve the embedding of changes. Identifying change adoption measures and change adoption risks, and appropriate interventions to mitigate them.
- Building change capability in the organisation: Building successful relationships with key leaders and stakeholders with the aim of improving change capability across the teams you work with. You will play the role of a coach and a facilitator of change adoption in order to do this.
- Visibility of changes: Supporting the business to get visibility of key changes impacting staff and customers, and understanding the change impacts.
- Participating in change & governance forums to provide updates and seek approvals on change management approaches.
- Contributing to the development of the change management craft at Westpac.

- 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
- A strong commitment to, and experience in building capability in those you work with.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and building effective working relationships with stakeholders, and being able to understand and deliver on multiple stakeholder needs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Personal strengths in adaptability and working with ambiguity.
- A mindset of continuous improvement and learning.
