Job Description

Join a high-performing team where your expertise will drive success in the Transport and Infrastructure industry. We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Transport and Infrastructure Estimating Team. As the Senior Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the New Business team, managing estimating elements for assigned tenders. You will provide functional support to the Chief Estimator, ensuring accurate, timely, and actionable pricing information that enables the division to secure its forward pipeline of work.

This senior-level role requires a dedicated focus on producing estimates grounded in sound reasoning, safe work practices, and financial viability. Your efforts will directly contribute to creating practical project budgets that align with and support business objectives.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of accurate estimates, ensuring compliance with Downer’s Standard Procedures and relevant industry standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholder, providing valuable advice and innovative solutions
  • Assess tender risks and opportunities, ensuring they are well-documented and addressed in the estimating process
  • Deliver accurate, competitive pricing for assigned tenders, ensuring estimates reflect the project scope, risks, and opportunities
  • Champion a culture of Zero Harm by supporting health, safety, environmental, and sustainability initiatives



Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

  • A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Engineering, with at least 10 years of construction industry experience, including 10 years in estimating
  • Proven success in delivering accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in risk analysis and tender reviews
  • A result – oriented mindset with strong emotional intelligence and a focus on continuous improvement
