Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated HR Advisor / Kaitohutohu Pūmanawa Tangata to join our team in a full-time, permanent role. Working within a hybrid model, you’ll have flexibility to work across home and campus. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a highly experienced and well-respected central HR Advisory / Ranga Pūmanawa Tangata team, while also supporting your own diverse portfolio.

As an HR Advisor, you will work closely with an HR Manager / Poutaki Pūmanawa Tangata, partnering with inspiring leaders across the Faculty of Business & Economics and the Faculty of Law. You’ll play a key role in delivering HR generalist support, offering high-quality coaching and advice, and building strong relationships to influence positive people outcomes.

This role provides an exciting mix of strategic and operational HR responsibilities, allowing you to develop your expertise in areas such as:

  • Performance management and coaching
  • Change management and process guidance
  • Remuneration and employment relations
  • HR administration and compliance
  • Supporting university-wide HR initiatives and projects

  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week)
  • Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000 per annum


Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist who brings:

  • Proven experience partnering with leaders and building trusted relationships
  • Ability to work in a complex environment, managing multiple priorities effectively
  • A proactive mindset—able to see the big picture while managing the details
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a passion for teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
  • Solid HR administration and process management capabilities
  • A relevant HR qualification or equivalent experience
  • A strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
