Position Overview We are seeking an experienced mental health professional to join a vibrant team of supportive colleagues who collaborate to ensure the ākonga receive mental health and well-being support during their studies. The focus of these roles is to support kamahi who themselves support ākonga, however, some direct short-term ākonga interaction is included as outlined in the job description. There is a special focus on supporting ākonga in the Wellington Halls of Residence as well as participating in the broader team activities
Ngā taipitopito tūranga mahi | Job details We are offering a permanent (0.8FTE 30 hours per week) position on our Wellington campus. The Wellbeing Advisor position located in Wellington has an additional emphasis and focus on supporting the Accommodation kamahi, particularly the Accommodation Services Manager, who directly supports ākonga. Each team works nationally from the campus on which they are based.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role The Student Care Team provides training, and psychoeducation, and creates health events to support and educate on well-being. It also provides consultation and support to other university kamahi who are managing ākonga well-being or emotional distress and unwellness. These colleagues include academics, accommodation, and clinical colleagues.
We are seeking someone who acknowledges the importance of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga in advancing student success.
Salary band for this position is $67,184 - $95,514 based on skills and experience.

As part of a supportive group of professionals, this challenging role will suit a person with:
An advanced Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Mental Health, or related qualification.
Experience working with ākonga and kamahi from the University demographic.
High-level assessment, decision-making, communication, and relationship management skills.
Although this is not primarily a clinical role, it includes ākonga contact and support, triage, referrals, participation in case management and Case Conferences, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
You will need to be a person who enjoys relationship building, being part of a cohesive team, is agile, displays initiative, has a client-centred approach, and is a collaborative team player.
