Our client is seeking a Principal Governance Advisor on a 6 month fixed term contract, to lead the establishment and enhancement of governance frameworks across their organisation.

This pivotal role influences the entire organisation, from the Board and CEO to the senior leadership team and business groups.

Based in Wellington, this Principal Governance Advisor role is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping governance processes for an independent Crown entity at the heart of New Zealand’s democracy. Our client is lookign for an as soon as possible start for this 6 month fixed term contract.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain robust governance frameworks, including Board policies, delegations, and governance manuals.
• Establish governance processes, ensuring effective coordination of Board meetings, work plans, and agendas.
• Facilitate efficient information flow between the Board, CEO, and organisation, ensuring alignment and accountability.
• Provide professional secretariat support to the Board, including accurate minute-taking and managing Board-related events.

What You’ll Bring:

• At least 8–10 years of senior advisory experience, including significant knowledge of governance processes.
• Proven expertise in developing and implementing governance frameworks and policies.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide strategic advice to Boards and senior leaders.
• Ability to start asap with the right to work in New Zealand.
