The skills sought
The employer has a large fleet of trucks and equipment. The skills needed not only include experience across a diverse fleet of European and Japanese trucks but you will also need to meet the following requirements:
- A relevant automotive trade certificate
- Heavy truck maintenance and repair experience
- Excellent diagnostic skills - preferably experience with Jaltest universal diagnostic equipment or an equivalent
- Excellent hydraulic skills
- Good basic electrical skills
- Fabrication skills would again be useful but not essential
- The ability to provide both technical support in the field and work in a tight knit team across 2 workshops
- A willingness to work additional hours
- Previous fleet preventative maintenance experience is preferred but skills across multiple area is what is sought
- Gearbox and engine rebuild skills would be useful, but are not essential
The attributes sought
The technical specialists working for this employer are a tight knit team and there is extremely low staff turnover. Aside from the obvious high hourly rate, you are going to need to be easy to get along with.
The company are a fleet maintenance and repair operation and the gear must keep running. Sometimes that means working up to 55 hours a week, so it won't really suit the 40-hour working week mindset. They really do need someone who has skills across a broad range.
