The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Tupu Ake is a Peer Led acute Mental Health and Addictions service provider based in South Auckland, working alongside clinical teams, community teams and Tiaho mai and ED.

This is a permanent full-time position. You will be working Friday & Saturday, 7am – 3:30pm, and Sunday & Monday, 3pm – 11:30pm.

As a Senior Peer Support Specialist, you will use your working knowledge of National Peer Competencies and Peer Principles to provide inspirational leadership, including over-seeing the running of shifts, role model the core peer values, provide coaching and support to Peer Support Specialists to reach their potential.

You | Mōu: 
You are wanting to step up into a Leadership role and bring your skills of peer knowledge with you and being able to lead a team of peer’s out on the floor supporting our Whaiora and their Whanau.

You will have a good understanding of the Mental Health and Addiction Peer Competencies and show good leadership out on the floor supporting your team. You have a good rapport with our clinical partners who we work alongside every day.

You will have good computer skills, good time management and a good understanding of working on staff rosters, you will be able to find cover for shifts when need be. You will provide support to the Team Coach of the service with day to day running of the service and coaching staff to bring out the best in our Peers.

You’ll also have:

  • A current Peer Employment Training or Intentional Peer Support Training
  • Completion of WRAP training, including WRAP at work
  • Holds a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights
  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of recovery
  • Lived experience of mental illness
  • Knowledge of mental health and NGO sector development
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
