Job Description

We have created the amazing opportunity to welcome a new kaiako into our team. This position is full time, five days a week, working with our under twos. You will work as part of a close team providing unhurried care and education to the littlest members of our centre whānau.

While a registered kaiako would be ideal, we are willing to consider unqualified and in training candidates as well.

What’s in it for you:

  • Minimum of extended Pay Parity
  • Great ratios - 2:7 for under twos (and 1:7 for over twos)
  • Friendly, supportive team and management
  • Spacious learning environments - over twice the space required by the Ministry of Education
  • Supportive, motivated and engaged management team
  • Paid First Aid certification
  • Regular professional development opportunities
  • Discounted childcare fees for your child
  • Privately owned centre - we know and care about our staff
  • Regular staff events

What we need from you:

  • Ideally qualified and registered (provisional registered and/or primary trained okay) kaiako preferred but most important is someone who is…
  • Passionate about the children we educate and care for and has a love of teaching
  • Initiative
  • A philosophy centered around respectful practices with tamariki, colleagues and whānau
  • A strong belief in child-led learning and allowing tamariki to develop and learn at their own pace
  • Flexibility and an enthusiastic can-do attitude
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to being reflective in your practice and willingness to upskill yourself
  • Previous experience with, and understanding of, learning, assessment, and internal evaluation (experienced teachers)
  • Commitment to using, and increasing knowledge of, te reo ngā tikanga Māori
  • We may be a bit biased but we think our centre is pretty special, and we’re sure you will too! We welcome applicants to get in touch and come for a look around our centre before applying.

To be considered for the position, please email your CV and cover letter to mailto:jacqui@coastlandspreschool.co.nz.

Applications close on Thursday 27 March at 5pm; however we may begin the interview process earlier, and offer the position, if we receive suitable applicants before this date.

Ideally the position will commence 14th April but there may be some leeway for the ideal applicant.

Please note, we are not an accredited employee and as such cannot accept overseas applicants.
