We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team in Christchurch. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about financial reporting, process improvement, and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-end variance analysis: Analyze financial data to identify variances between actual and expected performance each month.
Revenue recognition support: Ensure accurate revenue recognition, adhering to accounting standards, particularly for pharmaceutical products and services.
Supporting overall accounting functions: Assist the accounting team in day-to-day operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Stockreconciliations: Maintain accurate inventory records by ensuring they match actual physical stock on hand.
Fixed asset maintenance: Track and manage fixed assets, including equipment and property, ensuring depreciation is accurately calculated and recorded.
Intercompanyreconciliations: Reconcile transactions between different entities within the company, ensuring accuracy.
Retaildebtor account review: Monitor outstanding customer accounts, ensuring timely collection and minimizing bad debts.
GST Return completion: Prepare and submit GST returns to ensure tax compliance.
Rebate calculations: Calculate and process supplier's rebates accurately.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in retail accounting or a high-volume transaction business.
Proficiency in NetSuite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with accounting software and tools, and staying up-to-date with financial regulations.
Ability to identify financial issues and develop effective solutions.
Ability to meet deadlines, especially during busy periods like tax season.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance with legal and financial requirements.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
