Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Downer hold a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice that proactively manages and delivers to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons, 98 courts and 141 community correctional sites.
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Project Manager to manage the successful delivery of projects within the Corrections and Justice contract. The ideal candidate will have strong financial and technical acumen, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration. This role plays a critical part in driving business performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Manage project delivery, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within budget, and aligned with performance goals.
- Take ownership of financial management, including revenue, cost control, and margin optimization through efficient delivery practices.
- Support and assist site teams, enhancing technical capability and overall project delivery capacity.
- Develop project scopes, costing and design briefs, including quality assurance.
- Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships.
- Foster strong customer relationships, promote a Zero Harm safety culture, and contribute to business growth in line with company values.
- The ability to travel where the projects are remotely located.

- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline is required.
- Proven track record in project delivery, including scoping and financial management.
- Strong understanding of business operations, with solid financial and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer engagement and team collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, manage priorities, and drive outcomes under pressure.
- Strategic, solution-oriented thinker who embraces challenges and seeks continuous improvement.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to innovation, ownership, and delivering results.
- Be a team player eager to learn and share with other team members and to assist where and when colleagues are on leave etc.
