Ko tō tūranga – your role
As the Chapter Lead – Data Engineering you will be a key member of the Data & AI team, you will collaborate closely with various business stakeholders to understand their needs and develop highly performant, scalable data pipelines that support our data and AI strategies.
Ko tō mahi – what you’ll do
- Lead, mentor and develop our team of data engineers, ensuring they build and maintain robust data products.
- Define, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data engineering framework, covering crucial aspects such as data DevOps and data governance.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping our data platform foundations, ensuring our architecture and tooling are fit-for-purpose and align with the latest industry trends. Optimize processing data from internal and external systems into defined applications and databases.
- Design and work with data scientists and peers to evaluate and integrate new data sets to enable effective insights.
- Working closely with data and business owners to ensure current and future information requirements are understood, agreed upon and mapped.
- Providing technical guidance to the wider team in order to help design data pipelines, translating business needs into specific system, application, process and/or infrastructure outcomes.
- Identifying risks related to the data architecture assets, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Execute Data Governance policies.
Na tōu rourou - what you’ll bring
- Extensive DWH & data engineering experience.
- Strong experience working with AWS and DWH platforms (incl. Snowflake, Oracle, Teradata & Databricks) and ETL tools such dbt and Alteryx.
- Good knowledge of data engineering principles within SQL environments and within programming environments (incl. Python, Jinja, SQL, Java, Bash)
- Expert understanding in data engineering / data warehousing environment
- Effective relationship and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Line management & people leadership skills.
- Strong experience working with large volumes of information.
- Good knowledge of telecommunications data would be advantageous.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
