About the role

In this role reporting to the General Manager Asset Management, you will confidently lead our asset strategy, planning, engineering and investment programmes to be best in class.

You will be accountable for the 10-year Network Capex spend, work with the asset maintenance strategy team to refine asset maintenance and replacement strategies. You will also be accountable for engineering standards and ensuring our standards reflect the changing technologies required in distribution. Your days will include:

  • Developing and reviewing annually our Network Development Plan that ensure the reliability and variability of the network in a period on unprecedented growth and allow the integration of new technologies
  • Set the strategic direction for the management of our Network assets, to support and enable the overall business strategy
  • Leading a team of experienced engineering specialists for network strategy implementation as well as supporting the daily operational of the network
  • Developing our electricity network planning policies, processes and methodologies to deliver asset management plans that satisfy our Board, the Trust that owns the company and regulatory requirements
  • Provide specialist engineering advice to the executive team and provide mentorship for other engineers


There is also the potential for this role to provide back up for our GM Asset Management in his absence. This means that you will be comfortable interacting and presenting at Executive and Board level.

About you

You will bring with you:

  • A tertiary level qualified Electrical Engineer with an appropriate post-graduate qualification being a desired requirement
  • A passion for planning and delivery in asset management, preferably in the electrical utility industry - experience in distribution networks would be a bonus
  • Your experience as a competent manager capable of aligning a diverse group of staff with challenging targets, and achieve them
