We are looking for an experienced National Manager - Retention to be based at our Auckland office in Parnell, who exhibits the key behaviours of Results orientation, Team leadership, Strategic focus, Market and Customer orientation, Negotiation and influencing to maintain and grow our business and an understanding and proven track record in operations within Compass. Compass Group NZ Contract retention including SAG account support across all sectors.

The National Manager Retention is a senior executive role with overall responsibility for driving and maximising business revenue. The role is responsible for the development and delivery retention strategy including close support to the operational business services within the sector, identifying continuous opportunities and strategies to retain the contract and support operations to ensure we are delivering on our promises.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

As an experienced National Manager - Retention, your responsibilities will be:

  • the leadership of revenue growth to deliver and exceed the required operational and financial performance levels through existing contract business and the ability to grow market share based on service offers and performance reputation within your existing contracts
  • to lead revenue strategies aligned to the Sectors external trends to deliver the necessary budget targets and increase client satisfaction in a changing business and economic environment
  • ensuring best practice leadership and coaching to enable obsessive delivery of continued contract retention success in the short, medium, and long term
  • to stay ahead of global best practices in DISC & WAMS and make appropriate recommendations to support a customer focused commercial organisation that is ahead of the competition
  • building close collegiate relationships with executive stakeholders within key clients and liaising with global retention leaders to evaluate global best practice retention efforts and leadership skills.

  • an experienced and effective / contract leader with solid experience as a senior level sales executive within the service industry, preferably from within B&I sector food service industry in a B2B2C service business or similar market;
  • a results driven leader of people with a successful record of maximising commercial opportunities and profit achievement;
  • a team player with demonstrated ability to work seamlessly and collaboratively across different business functions to achieve the overall business goals;
  • effective change management, engaging key stakeholders and achieving the desired outcomes;
  • highly results focused with an excellent track record in developing and executing retention growth strategy and business plans to optimise overall business performance;
  • have the commitment, confidence and charisma to inspire confidence in the management team, staff, clients and other stakeholders;
  • demonstrates a high level of CRM understanding and compliance.


The ideal candidate for the position will also have the following:

  • 3 to 5+ years of senior level sales leadership experience within a like environment.
  • Highly numerate; financially and business astute.
  • University degree will be highly regarded but not essential.
  • A good standard of computer literacy with competence in using Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Excel and Dynamics 365.
