This is an 18-month fixed term opportunity for a strategically astute and skilled senior intelligence manager, with exceptional stakeholder engagement ability, to lead the Intelligence Fusion Teams.

Hosted by NZ Police, the Intelligence Fusion Teams aim to reduce crime and harm in Aotearoa/New Zealand through an integrated, multi-agency approach to Intelligence that supports successful cross agency outcomes.


The Manager provides oversight of Intelligence Fusion Teams, that include seconded staff from partner agencies, to deliver high quality strategic and innovative Intelligence across the following groups:

  • National Drug Intelligence Bureau
  • Gang Harm Insights Centre
  • National Gang Unit Intel Team
  • National Drug Intelligence Bureau
  • Drug Information Alerts New Zealand
  • Transnational Organised Crime Fusion Team


This is a high profile and critically important leadership position that oversees a significant budget and a workforce that contribute to major inter-agency strategic objectives.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of the wider activities of the NDIB, GHIC and TNOC Fusion teams to ensure each group meets the objectives of their Strategic Plan and work schedules.
  • Actively builds and maintains trusted working relationships with Government partners, and the wider intelligence community to facilitate intelligence gathering and the development of prevention and intervention initiatives.
  • Represents Police on a range of multi-agency governance groups and committees to ensure true inter agency partnerships across the Fusion Hub.
  • Provides advice and briefings on operational intelligence matters and official correspondence to a range of stakeholders.
  • Consider and champion diversity, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all intelligence outputs.
  • Deliver intelligence products that exceed customer needs and effectively influence decision makers.
  • Fiscal responsibility for managing multiple funding streams.

  • Demonstrate success in leading and maintaining high performing teams and strategic partnerships ensuring alignment and delivery of strategic priorities.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional critical and analytical thinking skills to identify and get ahead of emerging risk.

To be eligible for the Police National Headquarters roles, you must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

  • A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
  • A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

This is an office-based role within the Wellington central office

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $153,652 depending on skills and experience relevant to the role.
