Tranzit is an award-winning transport and tourism provider operating throughout NZ and we are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our operation in the Waikato Region.

We operate two depots located in Cambridge and Kihikihi, you will be required to spend time at each location to ensure operational continuity and foster team morale and development.

Tranzit Coachlines has operated the Waipa Regional Public Transport Services Contract for the past 12 months and successfully introduced 6 single deck EV buses and 2 double deck EV buses into the region. The successful applicant will be joining an established operation with a team of 20 drivers who operate between our two depots.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, leading and supporting our team and partnering with Waikato Regional Council. You will be responsible for ensuring our fleet of 9 ( 8 EV and 1 diesel) vehicles operate, KPI's are managed and delivered, supporting patronise growth and improving customer experience on the Waipa network.

This is a fast-paced, exciting industry and this position will suit someone who is self-motivated and is looking for an opportunity where they can make the role their own and grow within and expand the existing operation. Your task will be to ensure our network is functioning at all times over a 7-day period. Work hours can vary due to the nature of our industry with management support after hours as and when required.

You will be responsible for:

  • Foster a positive, proactive H&S culture, whilst ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day split branch operations,
  • Managing network delivery and reliability,
  • Maintain KPI's as set by our partners Waikato Regional Council,
  • Rostering our Fleet and Drivers,
  • Fleet Management and Maintenance,
  • Support and leadership for our friendly team of drivers - Team culture is important to us!
  • Support our client relationships by exceeding customer needs, ensuring top quality delivery of our services,
  • The willingness and ability to take after hour calls to support our team as and when required,


To be successful you should have:

  • A strong customer delivery focus
  • Proven experience in an operational role in a team leader/supervisor capacity,
  • A positive, pragmatic and well-balanced approach to problem solving, and decision making,
  • Ability to work under pressure,
  • Excellent stakeholder partnering skills,
  • Advanced technical skills and willingness to adapt to new technology,
  • A current class 4 drivers' licence with the ability to gain a Passenger endorsement - We can offer support and training to obtain this for the right applicant.
  • Transport industry experience is a must,
  • The ability to be flexible with your work hours to suit the needs of the operation,
