Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Property Services team provides a leading-edge planning and development consultancy that contributes to the University of Auckland's success by providing high-quality physical environments. We build and service some of the country's largest and most complex buildings and construction projects.

The opportunity has arisen to appoint a new Campus Cleaning Manager to oversee and coordinate all cleaning activities within the University campus. They will provide clear direction and leadership to a team of cleaning staff to ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards are consistently met across all University facilities.

Some key focus areas include:

  • Proactively coordinate the custodial services and monitor the adequacy of services provided.
  • Facilitating waste and recycling services.
  • Facilitating building and window wash preventative maintenance programme.
  • Ensure the roadworthiness of Property Services registered and non-registered vehicle fleet
  • Instigate preventative and corrective actions to ensure contractual compliance and deliverable outcomes are achieved
  • Ensure consistent delivery of relevant services which adhere to requirements
  • Monitor and audit standards, enabling agreed resolutions
  • Encourage engagement and education
  • Enable a fit-for-purpose environment for staff, students, and visitors to the University


This position offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact on campus operations and contribute to the overall success of the University community.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role on a permanent contract.

About you | He kōrero mōu

We are looking for a Commercial Cleaning specialist with significant experience leading large and diverse teams within complex environments. Key attributes for this role include excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to build relationship with stakeholders across all levels, ability to work under pressure and most of all to be a key contributor and team player across project teams.

Experience dealing with sustainability targets is desirable in addition to a good knowledge of NZ legislation and best practice in waste management.

  • Negotiation skills and ability to build successful relationships.

  • An ability to liaise at an executive level and to work under pressure within a politically complex and challenging environment.
