About the employer
This is a specialist diesel fuel injection workshop, however, other services include general repairs and servicing on a range of passenger and light commercial vehicles.

The company also supply turbochargers and provide dyno tuning services.


The role
This is a hybrid role where you will perform both general mechanical servicing and repairs as well as specialised work on fuel pumps. The combination of tasks will differ each day, making the work environment engaging and dynamic.

You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel fuel pumps and related systems in a range of vehicles including cars, campervans, and light commercial trucks.

You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team in this busy environment.

Duties will include:

  • Diagnostic tests to identify issues with fuel pumps and fuel systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems related to diesel fuel pumps
  • Use advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to assess system performance and identify faults
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble diesel fuel pumps and related components, such as injectors, fuel lines, and filters
  • Calibrate and test fuel pumps after servicing to meet manufacturer specifications
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Install new or refurbished diesel fuel pumps, ensuring proper alignment and installation procedures
  • Overhaul diesel fuel systems, including pumps, injectors, and regulators, ensuring all components are cleaned, serviced, and reassembled to meet operational standards
  • Wheel alignments, as well as fitting and balancing tyres
  • Customer interaction including explaining repairs and results and providing advice


Skills and experience required

  • Hold a relevant automotive qualification
  • Prior experience servicing and repairing vehicles.
  • Proven experience working on diesel fuel pumps/diesel engine fuel systems and components is absolutely essential.
  • Solid diagnostics and general problem solving skills
  • Experience using diesel test benches, the Bosch 815 Test Bench in particular
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Further training and certifications specific to diesel fuel pumps or manufacturer training would be an added bonus
  • Able to lift heavy equipment and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience performing wheel alignments and tyre fitting and balancing

Remuneration will reflect the level of your skills and training but will range between $30 and $40 per hour.
