Mō te tūranga | About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Company Secretary & Legal Counsel (permanent role) to join the Corporate Governance and Secretariat Team.

You will be part of a high performing and collegial team responsible for delivering secretariat and corporate governance advice and services to the bank. The roles require you to work closely with senior executives and directors, to manage board and committee agendas and papers, attend to reporting and filing requirements, and provide coaching and support to the business.

Your strong corporate legal and governance experience, financial industry experience and excellent interpersonal skills, will hold you in good stead, as you will be accountable for the smooth operation of the board and committee functions. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.

You may be an experienced Company Secretary ready for the next step or a Legal Counsel with corporate and financial services experience looking for a new challenge. Either way, we’d love to hear from you!

​​Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau | What will I need to succeed?

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A New Zealand law society practicing certificate
  • Corporate Governance and company secretariat experience. Preferably several years working in a law firm or other professional services firm and/or in-house
  • Financial industry experience and familiarity with financial and risk concepts
  • Strong task prioritisation, delivery and time management skills with the ability to self-manage and prioritise competing demands
  • Proactive work approach, anticipating and planning in advance to ensure smooth and high performing operational rhythm is maintained in the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Very proficient Microsoft Office skills
