We are looking for a Cleaner to work between 18-20 hours/week for a 12 month maternity cover, ideally starting the beginning of April. You will be supporting the wider team to keep Whenua Iti Outdoors facilities looking beautiful, inviting and clean. Responsibilities are likely to vary on each and every day and the role demands an organised professional who can both multi-task and remain calm under pressure. You will need to have good communication skills and want to be working within a team. This role requires a reasonable level of physical fitness.

Your key responsibilities would be:

  • Liaising and working alongside Whenua Iti Outdoors’ Cleaner daily.
  • Cleaning rooms, offices, toilets and other facilities as required in support of the daily Cleaner.
  • Full valet of 2 vehicles every week (Whenua Iti Outdoors have a fleet of 12 vehicles, this would be on a rotating roster).
  • Deep clean Whenua Iti Outdoors’ kitchens (x2) (including ovens/fridges), chilly bins, gas cookers, BBQ’s and other catering equipment every week.
  • Clean all windows on site weekly.
  • Clean decks monthly.
  • Working in our community nursery onsite, assisting with plant care, maintenance and community engagement.
  • Support Food Coordinator as and when necessary.


The ideal person for the role is someone who is and has:

  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Good attention to detail and positive attitude


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain and/or grow appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi).
