He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role As Infrastructure Plant Manager, you’ll take charge of KiwiRail’s essential plant and equipment, managing their entire lifecycle from acquisition to maintenance and disposal. You’ll lead a skilled team to ensure our assets support key national and regional infrastructure projects, driving operational excellence and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of operators and maintainers.
Oversee the allocation and deployment of plant assets to meet infrastructure demands.
Ensure all equipment meets safety regulations and compliance standards.
Manage maintenance programmes, optimise resource use, and drive standardisation across regions.
Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to enhance service delivery.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring You are an experienced leader with a strong background in plant and equipment management within a complex, safety-critical environment. Your ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership will be key to your success.
We’re looking for:
Proven experience managing equipment or assets in a high-risk industry.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
Deep understanding of safety, compliance, and operational best practices.
Financial acumen, including budget management and cost-saving initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage complexity.
