The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Join our dynamic, can do, Whanganui respite team and play a crucial part in promoting and enhancing tangata whai ora wellbeing in a beautiful rural environment. This role is an important component of our staffing and service delivery we provide to guests. As an awake over kaimahi, your priority is supporting guests overnight. This may include providing an empathetic ear over a cuppa, facilitating sleep hygiene or supporting them to achieve other goals. You will also have the opportunity to learn/utilize skills such as mindfulness and sensory modulation to support guests.
Working from a trauma informed lens, you will bring a calm, flexible personality and a can do attitude. Your ability to remain optimistic and positive in challenging situations will support you to achieve optimal outcomes for our guests. Your communications skills will enhance your professional and friendly manner, while maintaining clear boundaries to provide an environment that supports the achievement of equitable outcomes for all. You will work as part of a motivated Team and receive coaching and mentoring from a highly experienced Registered Nurse who leads the service.
This position would suit some one who is looking for a part time job that might fit around study or whānau.
Shift pattern: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 11:00pm – 7:30am awake shift.
