About the role:

We're looking for an experienced Cook to join our team at Auckland Hospital in the main kitchen. This is a Casual role, hours worked will be on a as and when required basis, dependent on business needs.

The role involves bulk cooking for patient meals in addition to (but not limited to):

  • Assembling and preparing ingredients
  • Preparing dairy, dry goods, fruit and vegetables
  • Preparing meat, seafood and poultry
  • Cooking and serving menu items for food service
  • Portioning and plating of food
  • Establishing and maintain quality control
  • Complete end of service requirements
  • General cleaning duties.


We're looking for applicants who:

  • Have experience working in a commercial hospital kitchen environment
  • Able to work unsupervised when necessary
  • Maintain excellent food preparation and presentation standards
  • Have strong professional written and communication skills
  • Have excellent customer service skills
  • Be reliable and have the ability to adapt and be flexible
  • Have a willingness to learn
  • Are team players
  • Able to handle a fast-paced environment whilst remaining focused
  • Multitask under pressure and have fun doing it!
  • Be physically fit - as there will be prolonged walking & standing on concrete floors, manual handling, lifting and an awareness of a working in a kitchen and its hazards.
  • To have knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
