The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team in Auckland on a fixed-term basis, reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager – Growth. The role will start in December 2024 and finish in September 2025.

As the Marketing & Communications Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering marketing and communications activities for our Energy & Utilities business unit across New Zealand. You will also inform and engage both internal and external audiences, increasing awareness of our Energy & Utilities capabilities and services.

  • Coordinate internal communications activities across Australia and New Zealand. This includes crafting updates for our Senior Leadership Team and creating monthly content for all internal communications channels.
  • Encourage participation and engagement in Downer Group communications and initiatives for Energy and Utilities team.
  • Provide support for local sponsorship and event opportunities.
  • Proactively seek joint media opportunities with customers to promote Downer Energy & Utilities in New Zealand.
  • Create New Zealand and Australian content for Downer’s website and social media channels.
  • Develop content for social media channels: Downer and Downer Utilities LinkedIn, as well as Downer Group Facebook
  • Assist with creating bid content as required.


About You

  • Proven experience in delivering successful strategies and campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Strong skills in internal communications, writing, and content creation.
  • A knack for building and maintaining relationships with people from all walks of life.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle competing deadlines and priorities
  • An ability problem-solve and offer strategic guidance and advice to stakeholders.
  • A tertiary qualification in marketing and/or communications would be an advantage.
