Our client Bayer Crop Science NZ is a large multinational business who are leaders in plant breeding and crop protection. Recruiting for their Pukekohe research station who specialise in vegetable breeding for both local customers and around the globe. This station is operated by friendly, supportive and close-knit team who are committed to providing high level value for both internal and external customers.
The Role
To cover a busy period, we are seeking a Research Associate to join their team in Pukekohe to support the vegetable breeding program on a 3 month temporary assignment starting in January.
This role will involve working outdoors on the research station as well as collecting and collating data to advance the products for the commercial portfolio. For the right candidate there is possible future opportunities within the wider business.
Your day to day duties include, but not limited to:
Seed production and processing
Conducting field trials and assessing data
Operations support i.e. weed control, irrigation and outdoor maintenance
Supervise packaging, cleaning and seed inventory
Administration and procurement support
About the role:
Temporary role for 3 months with the possibility for further opportunity within the company
Full time– possibly extra hours during busy periods
Great Pukekohe location
Extensive training will be provided on site
About you:
You should be Passionate about food production and horticulture
Physically fit to help team with moving stock as required
Detail orientated & Methodical
Any experience in operating machinery would be preferred but is not essential
Prepared to work outdoors picking up onion bulbs, clipping bulbs, planting bulbs, planting seeds to help with recording the data (this will be in all weather conditions)
If you have a qualification in either agriculture, horticulture, agronomy, plant breeding or a related field of study, this would be an advantage
Experienced with using Microsoft Office applications
Strong with verbal and written communication skills
