We provide world-class, customised solutions in shipping, transport and 3PL warehousing, we store, pick pack and deliver all types of products, from foodstuffs and aircraft engines to perishables and dangerous goods, we are now seeking an Freight Forward Team Leader, to join our Christchurch team so we can continue to provide an unsurpassed customer experience.
The Role;
Working as part of the team, with your own export portfolio, the freight forwarding team leader plays at vital role in managing all aspects of the export process, from documentation and customs clearance to freight forwarding and is responsible for day to day operations for the freight forwarding team, ensuring that all freight forwarding operations are delivered in full, on time, intact and with client specific requirements met or exceeded.
Responsibilities include;
Your primary responsibilities will be booking and managing all Export related shipments and team leader support to the freight forwarding team. This looks like:
Leadership - Provide day to day leadership of the whole freight forwarding team, which includes Imports and National.
Customer Service - Deliver exceptional customer service by anticipating and meeting customer needs. Respond quickly and professionally to any issues or queries to ensure client satisfaction.
Export/Freight Forwarding - Coordinating the movement of goods, including booking ocean freight, managing timelines, and tracking shipments
Quoting - Prepare and send accurate and competitive quotes to clients in a timely manner.
Invoicing - Ensure that invoicing is accurate, completed on time, and sent to customers for payment.
Teamwork - Provide support to the freight forwarding team.
To be successful in this role, you need:
- Proven experience in export/import freight forwarding (2+ years preferred).
- Proven leadership skills with experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations, documentation, and customs clearance processes.
- Cargowise (preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of MPI custom requirements.
- Computer skills. Word, Google docs, Excel.
