About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Business Partner to act as a trusted advisor to our Local Government Sector, providing end-to-end financial analysis, reporting and management accounting support for our operational business stakeholders. The Local Government Sector comprises multiple public private partnership (PPP) contracts with sites that are spread across New Zealand. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this permanent, full-time position will be based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Leveraging your strong accounting background, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Act as a strategic partner to Local Government Sector, providing financial insights and guidance to support decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have strong management accounting experience, a customer-centric focus, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements. We are seeking someone with substantial experience in a commercial environment in a business partnering finance/accounting role, ideally including experience with financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, PPP accounting, and corporate governance measures.

Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce or similar.
  • Hold CPA or CA membership, or nearing completion.
  • Highly developed communication and robust stakeholder engagement ability.
  • Proactive approach to relationship management and business partnering.
  • Solution oriented and collaborative style.
  • Experience and knowledge of Navision / D365 F&O highly desirable.
