- To manage and practically participate in R&D and technology projects determined to be strategically important to Tatua.

Authority granted to approve raw materials for manufacture.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

KRAs: Measures:
Develop & Maintain Expertise Be recognised by Collaboration Partners, and within the NZ scientific community as expert on topics related to active Strategic Projects and programs.
Process Engineering Develop a practical understanding of unit operations relevant to the Tatua manufacturing environment (present and future), and integrate that understanding into R&D work plans with Collaboration Partners
Technology Analysis and Review To evaluate and implement new products and processing technologies at Tatua. (Technoeconomic analysis of future commercial processes).
Product design Conduct feasibility assessments of potential new products with regards to likelihood of technical success, fit with existing equipment, ability to evaluate final product characteristics and potential product cost.
Product Development Collaborate with R&D partners to lead and carry out design, execution and analysis of experiments to develop products fit for intended purpose. Including application testing where appropriate.
Promote and Educate Promote new developments and educate stakeholder (internal and external) on features, benefits, and implications related to Strategic Projects R&D and associated commercialisations
Food Safety Ensure new developments have been subjected to appropriate safety analysis, and process design produces ingredients that are safe, fit for purpose, and meet the regulatory requirements for local manufacture, and application use in the intended market.
Commercial Trials Plan and manage the commercial trialling of new products. Evaluate trial product and report on trial conclusions.
Commercialisation Manage transfer of successful product process to Production. Complete relevant documentation and notify key relationships.
Teamwork Effectively function as a team member within the R&D group, contributing to the overall capability of the group, and assisting with creating a supportive, harmonious and educational working environment for all group members.
Health & Safety
• Promote safe work practices and a safe environment at all times.
• Undertake all work in a safe manner and follow all company and workplace health and safety procedures
• Identify potential hazards and advise manager, supervisor or workplace H&S representative immediately
• Accurately report incidents and accidents to manager, supervisor or workplace H&S representative immediately
• Ensure contractors and visitors are compliant with Tatua’s H&S work practices.
