About the role and who we are looking for:

Compass Group NZ has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Patient Services Manager (Food) to join our Medirest team at Auckland City Hospital. This role is Permanent Full-time and having a dietetic background would be ideal but not necessary.

You will organise and manage the patient services component of the contract in accordance with the standards required by Compass Group and the client. Essentially this position is responsible for the food service from the time meals leave the kitchen until they are served to the patient. To be responsible for providing great quality services to meet client expectations. Responsible for the management, development and training of all team members. To ensure your contract is compliant and run commercially in line with net growth and retention targets. To bring the Compass Group Vision & Values to life.

You will be responsible for:

  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships by identifying and creating new business opportunities.
  • Establish, maintain and monitor quality customer service practices
  • Effectively manage the cost of goods and/or food within the workplace
  • Manage finances within a budget
  • Establish and maintain a safe and secure workplace
  • Managing the menu processing team and ward catering associates.
  • Being a leader and an ambassador for delivering outstanding customer service and patient satisfaction for all things food.
  • Delivering training sessions to ward and kitchen staff on the service as well as nutrition, food safety and allergen management.
  • Utilising your expertise, you will need to establish relationships with customers and clients - our patients and Hospital staff including dietitians, clinicians and ward staff.
  • Ensuring appropriate meals are prepared for and delivered to the most complex patients.


Ideal skills and experience you will have:

As Patient Services Manager you will need to be:

  • confident in forming strong relationships with hospital employees,
  • guide the team members daily,
  • promote and manage compliance with food and health and safety systems, and
  • above all ensure a great customer service is delivered with each high quality, nutritious meal.
  • Preferably you will either have a dietetic OR a relevant nutritional degree and experience in a similar role. Attitude is important; we are looking for a positive person, down to earth, approachable and comfortable with rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in. You will need to be comfortable using computers, including using a range of Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
