Job Description

Tradestaff are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Fitter to grow our existing team in Taupo. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks on a large project for equipment, systems, and machinery.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical faults to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Perform work on pumps, valves, motors, generators, turbines, and other plant machinery.
  • Work at heights, including scaffolding, ladders, and aerial work platforms, as required.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with planned maintenance, emergency repairs, and shutdowns.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues to the supervisor.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a fitter or in a similar mechanical maintenance role, ideally within the power generation or industrial sector.
  • Proven ability to work at heights safely and effectively.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience working with a variety of industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.


Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on large sites.
  • Working at Heights will be preferred and Confined Space Qualifications desired.
