What will you do?
We are seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join our inhouse Legal Team and to lead the Unit Contracts division of the team. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and involves leading and mentoring the Unit Contracts team, as well as providing legal advice to Ryman on a range of matters including property, commercial, and retirement village issues.

Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing all matters relating to the conveyancing of Ryman occupation rights for units in its villages.
  • Preparing and maintaining template documentation relating to Ryman's occupation agreements, as well as implementing changes to improve efficiencies.
  • Supporting other divisions of the business and preparing and reviewing legal documents as required.
  • Responding to and resolving ad hoc legal queries.
  • Leadership of Ryman's Unit Contracts Team.

Who are you?

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) and a NZ Practicing Certificate
  • You have 4-8 years PQE with relevant experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal role
  • You value people and kindness and are passionate about delivering results
  • You strive for excellence and look for ways to exceed expectations. You can deliver with confidence in a fast-paced environment
  • You believe in the value of strong, positive, trusting teams who work together as one
