Job Description

We are seeking an Experienced Fund Writer to help secure vital financial support that will drive our mission and initiatives forward. This role involves developing high-quality funding proposals, grant applications, and written materials that effectively communicate our needs to donors, foundations, and other funding bodies.

The successful volunteer will play a key role in helping us secure funding to develop comprehensive strategic, communication, and marketing plans. These plans are critical to safeguarding Māori interests, promoting cultural resilience, and enhancing the Trust’s impact within our communities.

Your expertise will directly support the preservation and promotion of Māori knowledge, values, and traditions, ensuring they are upheld for generations to come.

Key Responsibilities
Research and identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, donors, and government sources.
Develop compelling, clear, and persuasive grant proposals, funding applications, and related materials.
Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and align funding proposals with organizational goals.
Tailor proposals to meet funder guidelines and ensure timely submission of applications.
Maintain a record of applications, reporting deadlines, and funding outcomes.
Monitor and report on the progress of funded projects as required by funders.

Skills and Experience
Proven experience in grant writing or fundraising, with a track record of securing successful funding applications.
Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Strong research and analytical abilities to identify funding opportunities and tailor applications effectively.
Understanding of or sensitivity to Māori values, traditions, and cultural resilience (preferred).
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
