Westpac New Zealand is establishing a threating hunting capability and looking for a Senior Cyber Security Analyst who has experience working with Threat Intelligence to help lead this function. The Senior Cyber Security Analyst plays a vital role within Westpac’s Cyber Detect and Respond Team, assisting with detecting and responding to a wide array of security threats and incidents.
As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst you will provide critical support to the team, serving as an escalation point for monitoring and detections managed by our analysts. Drawing upon your in-depth knowledge, you will lead incident response efforts to swiftly contain and eliminate security threats.
As a senior member of the team, you will serve as a mentor and coach to our analysts, supporting the Service Owner – Cyber Detect and Respond to help achieve our team’s objectives of delivering a world-class information security environment. You will play a key role in driving initiatives to strengthen the capabilities of the team and enhance the security posture of Westpac.
As part of Cyber Detect and Respond's growth phase, you will be integral to several key projects. This includes projects such as leading the development of a Threat Intelligence platform and overseeing the implementation of Security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) workflows.
This role is primarily based in Auckland or Wellington however we will also consider remote applications within NZ.
Na tōu rourou | What will you bring?
- Minimum of 4 years experience in security operations, penetration testing security engineering, or adjacent domains.
- In depth experience utilising methods, tools and techniques to proactively hunt for cyber threats.
- Advanced technical knowledge in security, web technologies, networking, cloud, and IT infrastructure.
- A solid investigatory mindset, a keen eye for anomalies, and motivation to dive deeper, ask questions, and discover root causes.
- Ability to own and lead security incident response and improvements in detection and response capabilities
- Experience working with security platforms and tools like SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, etc
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to cope well under high-pressure situations
- Security industry certification desirable – SANS GIAC, CompTIA, or equivalent
- Experience designing and developing Security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) workflows is highly desirable.
