Job Description:

The Company
Our client is a reputable local engineering shop who manufacture, service, and repair bespoke, specialist hydraulic equipment for both the industrial and mobile market. They have a well set up workshop located in Hamilton.


The Role
As a Foreman, you will oversee the operation of the workshop and manage a team of skilled and non-skilled trade staff. This is a dynamic role where you will be hands-on on the shop floor as well as working in the office. You will be planning and co-ordinating production activities, methodology, materials, budgets, reviewing designs, quality control, supervising and training staff, and so on.

They design, machine and fabricate their own hydraulic components. Therefore, we are seeking someone with a strong mechanical engineering background, with practical experience in precision CNC machining and fitting, as well as specialist knowledge in hydraulics (i.e. in-depth understanding of different hydraulic circuits, etc.)

This is an excellent role for an experienced foreman or a senior technician/ machinist to step up and take on more management responsibilities.

In summary, the requirements are,

  • A trade qualification in mechanical engineering, fitting turning, or similar
  • Previous management or supervisory experience in engineering/ production
  • Experience in precision CNC machining
  • Experience in industrial/ mobile hydraulics
  • Able to interpret drawings
  • Advanced written and verbal communications
