To maintain Zespri's competitive edge in the global fruit industry, an efficient and high-performing supply chain is essential. The Cool Chain function plays a pivotal role in ensuring the consistent delivery of premium-quality kiwifruit to markets across a 12-month supply window.

This fixed-term position will support the fruit conditioning program from February to November 2025 by ensuring that Zespri kiwifruit reaches international markets in optimal condition. The role focuses on the following key objectives:

  • Issuing timely and accurate instructions to vessels and carriers regarding changes to cargo conditions, such as temperature adjustments or the release of ripening gases, directly impacting the fruit’s quality upon arrival.
  • Maintaining data integrity throughout the process by ensuring accurate, up-to-date data, which allows for effective monitoring of transit conditions, timely reporting, and the quick identification of issues. This supports informed decision-making, mitigates risks, and ensures the successful delivery of high-quality kiwifruit to global markets.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on storage and transit conditions to ensure the fruit arrives in the best possible condition.
  • Supporting the broader fruit conditioning program by ensuring smooth collaboration and efficient workflows within the team. By assisting with data management, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating communication across functions, this role enables team members to effectively monitor and adjust cargo conditions.


Accountabilities include:

  • Ensure effective fruit conditioning through continuous monitoring, assessment, and reporting of transit and storage conditions, highlighting potential issues.
  • Issue clear and timely instructions to vessels and carriers regarding changes to cargo conditions, including adjustments to temperature or the release of ripening gases.
  • Maintain the integrity and consistency of data by performing regular validation checks, identifying discrepancies, and correcting errors promptly.
  • Monitor cargo settings before, during, and after each voyage, documenting any discrepancies and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Process and upload data into relevant systems, ensuring it is readily available for analysis and reporting.
  • Generate regular reports on conditioning activities, highlighting issues, trends, and recommendations for improvement.


Ko wai koe? Who are you?

  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in data processing, administration, or supply chain management
  • Proven experience in data processing, with a strong ability to clean, validate, and report on data
  • Experience in written communication, including report writing and presenting findings
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI or SAP) is advantageous, but not essential if the candidate is willing to learn
  • A current driver’s license is required
  • A proactive, results-driven approach with a positive attitude
  • Flexibility in working hours as the role requires working outside of normal business hours


You will also have:

  • Strong data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (beneficial)
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word (essential)
