He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Picton Terminal team as a Ferry Terminal Operator on a full-time (80 hours per fortnight) fixed term basis for 12 months. This is a busy and varied role where no two days are the same!
As a Ferry Terminal Operator, you will play a vital role in assisting with the operational and customer service aspects of turning our iconic ferries around, while ensuring the terminal and adjoining facilities are maintained to a high standard for our customers to enjoy. You will also be responsible for securing the ships lines, luggage handling and cleaning and ensure the maintenance of terminal facilities. There's no previous experience required, we will give you fully paid training in all aspects of the role, simply bring your enthusiasm and your motivation to see a job well done!

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly enthusiastic and enjoy a role that includes following procedures, instructions and problem solving. We have a great team here - you'll be working as part of a supportive and inclusive team environment.
You will also need to have:
A full, clean Class 1 driving licence is essential (please do not apply if you do not have a full licence)
A Class 2 driving licence – this is desirable, however not essential
A high level of physical fitness, team spirit and be health and safety focused
The ability work a rotating 24/7 shift roster (including nights)
An ability to think on your feet and apply knowledge in a practical environment
A customer service focus
Having a P licence would be advantageous.
This position involves shift work and a requirement to work Monday to Sunday on a rotating rostered basis (planned two weeks in advance); you will work either the morning shift (04.00 - 16.00) or the evening shift (16.00 - 04.00) so you must also have a reliable way to get to and from the terminal safely as public transport may not be available at these times.
