About the role
Working in close cohesion with the company Project Managers and Estimator, you will ultimately be responsible for producing accurate and detailed 2D and 3D designs for fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, building codes, and project specifications. Day to day duties will include:
- Producing, reviewing and editing designs, ensuring continuous improvement principles are adopted
- Converting and modifying construction drawings to integrate fire alarm system designs
- Making corrections or revisions to 2D and 3D models as required
- Staying updated on the latest developments and technologies in fire alarm design and CAD software
- Reviewing design concepts and provide recommendations for improvements
- Maintaining organised records of all designs in the company database
- Updating and managing design documentation efficiently
- Coordinating with estimators and project teams to develop project designs
What you will bring
A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical drawing, engineering, or a related field is preferred; however, a strong working knowledge of CAD is essential. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience preparing CAD drawings based on architectural and engineering concepts, blueprints, and layouts. Proficiency in AutoCAD software, including Revit, SolidWorks, and Autodesk, is required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work, coupled with a practical problem-solving approach and a "can-do" attitude. A deep understanding of New Zealand fire alarm compliance requirements is essential, along with the ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required, as well as a commitment to high standards and quality.
