We are on the lookout for an Administrator/Receptionist to join our team!

At the Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI), our receptionist is the first port of call for staff and doctoral student enquiries and a friendly welcome for visitors to the Institute.

This role supports the smooth running of the Institute, by providing general administrative and operations support, including:

  • Reception and front of house duties
  • Room bookings, access management, and facilities support
  • Making sure Institute printers and equipment remain in good working order, coordinating with central teams and external vendors for maintenance and repairs when required
  • Supporting with events when required
  • Supporting the Institute Team Leader and Institute Operations Manager with general administration and one-off project support when required.
  • Supporting the Institute Team Leader with Postgraduation administration.
  • Key to your success in this role will be your ability to build and maintain strong relationships, underpinned by a focus on customer service.


This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 per week) position.
Remuneration is $50,700 - $55,000 per annum.

ABI is a world-leading research institute that aims to improve medical diagnosis and treatment of injury and disease. We do this through the application of engineering sciences and technical innovation to medicine and human physiology.

The Institute has around 250 members, of which approximately 105 are graduate students enrolled in Doctoral or Master's research. All our students are members of at least one multi-disciplinary research team, which often include valuable collaborations with domestic and international clinicians, medical professionals, computer scientists and bioengineers.

Ideal applicants will also possess or demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in customer service and/or reception
  • Strong digital literacy skills and the ability to pick up and learn new systems
  • Excellent planning and organisations skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills and be someone who genuinely enjoys helping others to succeed and excel
  • An understanding of the research environment and project coordination experience would be very useful in this role but are not essential.
