Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
You’ll be overseeing and managing the defect management process, ensuring timely resolution of defects and maintaining the integrity of our software; your responsibilities will include

  • Developing and refining defect management processes, securing relevant approvals, and ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Coordinating with business teams, internal development teams, IT teams, and third-party vendors to achieve timely and efficient closure of defects.
  • Triage defects, assign them to appropriate action owners, and accelerate progress towards resolution.
  • Tracking and monitoring defects regularly using defect management tools such as JIRA. TFS, or Azure DevOps. (We don’t use this tools, so I don’t think we need to add them).
  • Producing regular progress reports against defect KPIs and communicating any risks and issues to stakeholders.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and implementing mitigating actions to prevent reoccurrence.


Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong knowledge of defect management methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in developing and executing Business Acceptance testing processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Information Technology).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in defect management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably within the banking industry.
  • ISTQB Certified Test Manager or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Proven ability to foster an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and belonging.
  • Strong skills in engaging and empowering a wide range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adaptable leadership and collaboration style aligned with ANZ's commitment to achieving equitable outcomes.
