Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future
We're looking for a GIS Analyst to join the Safe City Security team. The key component of this role is working with the wider Connected Communities business unit and producing reports based on the data collected.

The Connected Communities team collect a wide range of data in their work out and about on the streets of Pōneke, and we use this data to help ensure our city is a safe, inclusive and diverse place that enhances social well-being and reduces harm. In this role you will maintain the databases that hold this data and produce monthly reports. This includes spatial data and data from safety events across the city. You will deliver high-quality spatial projects and spatial analysis, provide spatial data maintenance, and offer online and hard copy maps and services to assist Connected Communities in its delivery of safety, security, and community services. This involves utilising and implementing appropriate technology and systems as required. You will be relied on to provide support and expertise in the development of the team's GIS capabilities to meet our strategic objectives.

You will have 1-2 years of proven spatial industry experience, experience maintaining databases, backing up data and producing regular reporting. You will have strong experience using ESRI products - ArcGIS Pro and AGOL. If you have experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and FME, that would be ideal but isn't essential.

We are looking to appoint between $79,356 and $93,359 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.

The Connected Communities team is passionate, energetic and ready to deliver strong community outcomes in partnership with organisations and communities. We work hard to make sure Pōneke is a safe, inclusive and diverse city that enhances social wellbeing and reduces harm. We do this through the provision of advice, services and programmes to internal and external customers. We fund community initiatives that support social wellbeing and advocate for the needs of our communities to central government, working to ensure that our kaimahi and assets are safe.

As part of Connected Communities, whatever role you're in, you'll be helping to make Pōneke great for the people who live here. You'll also play an important role in the event of an emergency event, as our team supports Council's emergency welfare response function, supporting and meeting the welfare needs of individuals, whānau and pets in the time immediately following an emergency event.

We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital for people to live, work and play.

Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.

Applications close 9 February 2025. All applications must be submitted online - we will not accept emailed applications. All applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.
