The Balance Sheet Management team's primary focus is the effective and efficient management of WNZL's balance sheet and allocation of balance sheet resources, supporting the delivery of Westpac NZ's wholesale funding strategy and overall business performance. The team is responsible for the allocation and pricing of WNZL's funding and liquidity resources and is a key stakeholder of the customer deposit portfolios.
The team is part Westpac NZ Treasury, and works closely across WNZL Treasury, Group Treasury, Finance, Product, Pricing and Distribution teams.
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director Balance Sheet Management within the Treasury (Finance) department, you will primarily focus on the Balance Sheet Pricing & Performance project, to develop and implement an enhanced Liquidity Transfer Pricing (LTP) methodology.
Additionally, you will:
- Support the management of WNZL's balance sheet through balancing performance, risk appetite and growth/franchise aspirations against regulatory needs and the operating environment.
- Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to conduct a gap analysis between current and future LTP states to draw insights into the individual impact assessment, identify risks, gaps and/or weaknesses.
- Support the development of LTP planning and forecasting activities.
- Provide analysis to a high quality of both content and presentation for senior stakeholder review and approval.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support identification and execution of balance sheet optimisation and efficiency opportunities within risk appetite.
- Prepare regular reporting, balance sheet optimisation and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) papers to WNZL management and governance forums.
- Perform related duties as assigned, within the scope of role and as required by senior leadership.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Accounting along with CA, CPA or CFA qualified.
- 3-7 years broad based banking experience
- Experience within a Treasury environment
- Proven experience in analysis and reporting
- Financial Modelling / Advanced user of Excel
- Knowledge of Transfer Pricing methodologies, behavioural curves, bank pricing factors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders across all levels of the business.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.
- Ability to work at pace in a dynamic environment.
