Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's future
The Principal Advisor - Community Analytics and Insights is an important role leading a small team of data analysts to provide expert guidance in data analysis and insights that inform the Council's approach to social well-being. Sitting within the Safe City Security team, this role will work across the Connected Communities business unit to support evidence-based decision-making by leveraging a variety of data sources, including contract reporting from funded community organisations, to drive the development, delivery, and monitoring of projects that promote social well-being across the city, contributing to the outcomes of the City Safety Plan and other strategies. This role will also contribute to the creation of an online platform that integrates data tools and dashboards.

You will have a strong background in data analytics, GIS, or data science and you'll be passionate about using data and evidence to drive decision making. A vital part of this role will be interpreting data - this involves being able to communicate technical data to non-technical people and helping the wider Connected Community team to understand the story the data is telling us, to help drive decision making on improving the safety of Pōneke. You will be a strong communicator who is able to develop and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally. If you have a background in community service, city safety or security, this would be ideal but isn't essential.

The Connected Communities team is passionate, energetic and ready to deliver strong community outcomes in partnership with organisations and communities. We work hard to make sure Pōneke is a safe, inclusive and diverse city that enhances social wellbeing and reduces harm. We do this through the provision of advice, services and programmes to internal and external customers. We fund community initiatives that support social wellbeing and advocate for the needs of our communities to central government, working to ensure that our kaimahi and assets are safe.

As part of Connected Communities, whatever role you're in, you'll be helping to make Pōneke great for the people who live here. You'll also play an important role in the event of an emergency event, as our team supports Council's emergency welfare response function, supporting and meeting the welfare needs of individuals, whānau and pets in the time immediately following an emergency event.

We are looking to appoint between $114,150 - $134,294 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience.

We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable and creative capital for people to live, work and play.

Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.
