About the Role:
As the Health & Safety Advisor within this larger social services organisation, you will be reporting to the Health & Safety Manager along with one other, and be responsible via training and feedback to implement, monitor and audit compliance with the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures
Some travel (upper North Island only) once a month will be required to this organisations sites out of Auckland eg for training of H & S Rep’s, for an office moves etc, use Pool Car
General Health and Safety
Partner with management and staff across the organisation to identify Health and Safety training needs
Develop and deliver Health and Safety training programs (the organisation has approx. 25 H & S Representatives across various service office sites)
Actively champion the health and safety function
Lead specialist health and safety activities as allocated from time to time, e.g. Auditing and incident management
Manage the online health and safety system (Risk Manager) etc
Health and Safety Strategy
Partnering with all this ‘not-for-profit’s’ Services across all levels, providing expert advice on Health and Safety issues and best practice
Contribute to reviews/continuous improvement
Support the H & S Manager with writing reports
Develop Health and Safety procedures and documents that are consistent with legislative requirements and industry best practice
Worker Engagement, Participation and Representation
Ensure these Engagement procedures are current/implemented
Oversee the development of their Health and Safety Representatives, providing opportunities for coaching and learning
Write regular health and safety internal comms based on incident learnings and trends

About you:
Will have worked at the level of a Health & Safety Lead, Co-ordinator, H & S generalist or one of a team of Advisors
Have coached Health & Safety Representatives
Be keen to develop your career in H & S with a passion for coaching staff and compliance
Have a combination of H & S qualifications, membership, or relevant experience in health and safety and injury management
3 years H & S experience preferred, can be from any industry/sector
NZ H & S legislation, application and experience of
Have a Full NZ Drivers Licence
NOTE Full NZ legal work rights required as this is a permanent role

Use of Pool Car when required for office site visits in Auckland, and upper north island ie Tauranga to Whangarei once a month
