Amotai is an economic initiative creating opportunity in the supply chain for Māori and Pasifika businesses throughout Aotearoa. We support and advocate for supplier diversity across government agencies, the private sector, Iwi and Pasifika groups so Auckland’s business sector reflects the diverse communities of our region.
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
This is an exciting fixed term opportunity to make a real impact on the socio-economic outlook of Aotearoa.
We are searching for a Amotai Relationship Manager to drive the development of a prosperous and sustainable Māori and Pasifika business sector in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Reporting to the Manukura, you will work closely with different teams across the Auckland Council Group to increase levels of business activity between Auckland Council and Amotai registered businesses. You will bring your procurement skills and experience to support them to build relationships and connect with one another to drive the development of a prosperous and sustainable Māori and Pasifika business sector in Aotearoa.
In this role you will focus on:
- Writing supplier diversity strategies, contract clauses and contract management plans with key staff across Auckland Council to increase opportunities for Amotai registered businesses.
- Providing advice on growing supplier diversity through council procurement channels.
- Support Amotai business to business activities
- Building the capability of buyers to engage diverse suppliers
- Identifying opportunities in the supply chain for Māori and Pasifika
- Leading complex work programmes and projects relating to supplier diversity
- Sharing your knowledge and advice

Your background will demonstrate experience in implementing social procurement/broader outcomes and have significant experience working across the Māori and Pasifika business sector in a similar role. You’ll also have a commitment to making a difference in business for Māori and Pasifika people.
You understand the issues affecting Māori and Pasifika people in business. Ideally, you will have strong, well-established networks that you can tap into to create positive change.
Commercial acumen and knowledge of small to medium business enterprises, as well as your understanding of Indigenous societies and cultures, will be key to uplifting Māori and Pasifika businesses and increasing their market share in Auckland’s economy.
