Our newsroom is a hive of activity and exceptional work and we need someone who can keep everything on track. This role is one you can sink your teeth into to make your own. No two days are the same, so you will need to be able to adapt to forever changing requirements.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT:
Be the sole admin/operational support for our newsroom teams. There will be ad-hoc support required to ensure the smooth running of the newsroom as well as a go-to person and liaison between departments.
Help journalists with basic reporting tasks.
Proficient in Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, Office and Copilot.
Management of answering newsdesk phone calls.
Assistance with rostering across the wider newsroom.
Arrange IT equipment, visitor car parks, business cards, stationery orders, newsroom gatherings, catering, staff gifts, etc as required.
Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodation.
Cross-reference all newsroom staff leave/sick leave to ensure everything is submitted into the right systems.
Coordinate submissions for awards
Process and approve invoices, expenses and other financial administration.
ABOUT YOU:
You’ll have a relevant qualification or experience in an administrative/office assistance role and/or have an interest in journalism is beneficial but not essential.
High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
You’ll understand the need to maintain confidentiality around information that you deal with.
Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
You’ll be an effective communicator and will keep managers and colleagues updated on all necessary information.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify and provide solutions for potential problems before they arise
Ability to act decisively and sensitively in demanding, fast pace and challenging situations
You will be innovative, think creatively, and be able to manage multiple tasks.
