Job Description

About us
At Sanford, we take pride in over 100 years of seafood history, driven by our passion for the industry and excitement for the future. Our vision is Leadership in New Zealand Seafood, achieved through care, passion, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.

About the role
Step aboard the San Granit, Sanford's 67m factory trawler, the largest in our entire deep-water fleet. Operating year-round, these vessels catch, process, and package premium seafood, delivering it to tables worldwide. As a Factory Supervisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the Skipper, Factory Manager, and team to produce the highest quality New Zealand seafood.

This independent contractor opportunity offers a balanced work schedule of 6 weeks at sea followed by 6 weeks off (paid). With operations running 24/7, you'll work in a values-driven environment alongside a dedicated team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the factory team to maintain production excellence.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient handling of seafood, primarily hoki and squid.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and risk management programmes.
  • Train and mentor crew in processing and factory operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Prioritise health, safety, and wellbeing for yourself and your team.

About you
We're looking for a motivated, adaptable leader who thrives in a dynamic environment. Your ability to communicate effectively, lead by example, and foster a collaborative culture will set you apart. With experience in seafood processing and factory operations, you're ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to the vessel's success.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in factory or seafood processing leadership roles.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively at all levels.
  • A commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to drive a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with risk management and food safety standards.

Sanford offers endless opportunities, with a diverse team of over 1500 people working in various roles, including remote locations like the seas surrounding Antarctica.

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand. Our recruitment process includes pre-engagement checks including criminal history check, drug and alcohol testing, and a medical assessment.
