Position Overview Ako Aotearoa is New Zealand’s National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. Our mission is to work together with tertiary education providers and agencies to enhance the effectiveness of tertiary teaching and learning. Established in 2007, Ako Aotearoa is funded through contracts with the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and hosted by a Massey University-led consortium.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, Research and Innovation, we are seeking a qualified and experienced person for the role of Research Programme Coordinator in a permanent part time (6.4 FTE/24 hrs per week) role that has the flexibility to be based in Wellington, Palmerston North or Auckland CBD locations.
Nga Kawenga Matua/ Key responsibilities:
Provide administrative and operational support to the Programme Manager, Research and Innovation, Ako Aotearoa.
Assist with preparing and managing the Ako Aotearoa Research and Innovation Agenda (AARIA) funding rounds.
Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in managing documentation, communications, and related tasks.
Prepare spreadsheets and reports to support information management and decision-making for research funding applicants and projects.
Communicate effectively with funding applicants and researchers.
Administer awarded research projects and contracts, maintaining accurate records in systems such as HubSpot (CRM), SharePoint, and Microsoft Excel.
Support the dissemination of research outputs and funding outcomes by organising and managing online and in-person activities, including webinars, workshops, information sessions, and Ako Aotearoa Regional Forums.
Nga whakaritenga mahi / Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification at the same level or higher. A minimum of two years’ experience supporting projects. Experience in a tertiary or research-intensive environment is highly desirable. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy. Demonstrated enthusiasm for supporting research projects and a genuine interest in research management.
Nga Pukenga Hiahia / Desired Skills:
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite of programmes, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Outstanding organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
