The Company
My client is the NZ subsidiary of a large multinational company with significant operations here in NZ. The business operates in the capital equipment and service industry sector and is not looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the team.

The Role
The role of Assistant Accountant will report directly to the NZ Finance Director. You will be part of a mid sized team and will be someone looking for a career role where you can grow and develop. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of the month end close process and reporting to Group
  • Assisting with the preparation of the annual Statutory reporting process and the associated audit
  • Processing intercompany agreements and ensuring all reconciliations are completed
  • Prepare and file indirect tax returns and assist with direct tax returns as required
  • Prepare and reconcile the fixed assets register and follow up with capex requirements
  • Process general ledger journals as required
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations as required
  • Assist with Accounts payable as required; generally with queries and overflow
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.


Your profile:
This role will suit a candidate ideally working towards their full CA/CPA qualification. You will have had some experience with AP & intercompany transactions but have moved your career ideally into a junior assistant Accountant role and now looking for that next step.
You must be able to demonstrate prior experience with completing indirect taxes.

What is very important is your ability to demonstrate an analytical and enquiring mind, ideally experience working with a larger company and even better a multinational and strong attention to accuracy & initiative.

This is a company that requires their staff in the office 5 days per week.
