The Workload Automation team mission is simply to build and run platforms that enable BNZ teams to move critical files from A to B. We need a Senior Technical Specialist who will play a critical role within this team to help keep the lights on at BNZ. This team is high-profile and in very high demand to critical projects and processes within the bank.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

This role can be based in Auckland or Wellington. It is a hybrid role with two days where you can work flexibly.

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Configure and Manage File Transfers: Configure and maintain secure file transfer platforms (e.g., SFTP, FTPS, PGP) to ensure data integrity and security. Oversee and ensure the successful completion of scheduled and ad-hoc file transfers, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
  • Troubleshoot Transfer Issues: Diagnose and resolve file transfer failures, working closely with internal teams and external partners to identify and fix problems.
  • Automate Processes: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline file transfer processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Maintain the File Transfer Platform: Perform regular maintenance and updates on the file transfer platform to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Document Procedures: Maintain detailed documentation of file transfer processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.

What technical skills are REQUIRED for this role?

  • Unix and Windows Administration: Proficiency in both Unix and Windows systems is a must, your skills in managing and optimising these environments are crucial to our success.
  • Automation and Scripting: Your expertise in this area is essential. We need someone that can help simplify and future proof our current solution.
  • Ansible: while not mandatory, experience with Ansible is highly preferred.
  • Dev Ops: We use Jenkins, but familiarity with any Dev Ops tools is a plus.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a cross functional, diverse, and multidisciplinary team
  • SFTP and SSH: Experience with secure file transfer protocol and SSH is a plus
  • Cloud platforms: Familiarity with AWS and Azure will be beneficial
