Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

Product Engineering is made up of five technical Practices, each led by a Practice Manager. The PM is responsible for the wellbeing, growth and productivity of each person in their Practice. We also ensure our Practices are skilled for and aligned to best-practice approaches to delivering on each of our customer portfolio roadmaps – helping build or support the standards, tools, and patterns our teams use.

Practice members are allocated into cross-functional Agile delivery teams with Product Owners, across a number of business portfolios. In this role, you’ll be working with other Analysts in your delivery team, but not necessarily the whole FA Practice in your day-to-day business – though there’s plenty of opportunity and expectation to jump in on Practice initiatives.

He kōrero mōu | About you

Ideally you will have experience working at a tertiary institution, specifically in an IT position. You are curious, willing to learn, and want to know about how we do the things we do, and why. You’re keen to try anything new, willing to muck in with the team, and are willing to build in your knowledge of the University in new and advanced ways.

You’ll have had experience working with relevant business stakeholders to deliver on expectations throughout a planned iteration, and are familiar with Agile ways of working. You will have been responsible for providing technical or user support for business process tools in the past, ideally within a cross-functional value stream or project, with tasks anywhere from access and permissions through to user training and knowledge creation.

  • Experience using a ticket and request management system such as ServiceNow or Remedy
  • Experience with IT processes tailored for higher education institutions in New Zealand
  • Experience working at a tertiary institution
  • Awareness or experience with Agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to encourage others to think creatively and share opinions
  • Experience with creating user documentation and empowering users to self-service

  • Business Analysis, Applications Support or Service Desk /Tier 2 support experience

Flexible working is something we take seriously. Our primary office, The Foundry, is at the University's Engineering Campus in Newmarket. This location is designed for activity-based and collaborative working, so your team will agree what on-site day/s make sense. For the days where the group doesn’t plan to be on-site together, it’s mostly up to you whether you work from home. There is the expectation, however, that when the team plans to be onsite, or there’s a Practice/Division event, you are present along with the rest of us – there's so much to be gained from the incidental conversations we have face-to-face.
