We are seeking reliable and hardworking General Labourers to join our team in Christchurch. As a General Labourer, you will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing, or civil projects by performing a range of physical tasks. This role involves manual labour on worksites and may include both indoor and outdoor environments, depending on the project.
Key tasks:
Site Preparation & Cleanup: Clear debris, waste, and materials from work areas, ensuring a clean and safe site.
Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport materials and tools to various work locations.
Basic Machinery Operation: Operate equipment manufacturing or civil machinery, under supervision.
Safety & Compliance: Follow health and safety guidelines, wear PPE, and report hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
Physical Labour: Perform manual tasks, including lifting, digging, handling materials, and moving equipment as required.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in general labour, construction, or similar manual work is an advantage but not essential. Previous experience with forklift (F endorsement and/or OSH), or Class 2 or 4 driving, with roadranger experience an added bonus.
Physical Fitness: Must be capable of lifting heavy materials (up to 25-30kg) and working in physically demanding conditions.
Skills: Basic knowledge of construction and safety protocols is beneficial.
Health & Safety: A good understanding of New Zealand's health and safety regulations, with the ability to follow procedures and report issues when necessary.
Communication: Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues.
Flexibility: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to different tasks as needed.
Work Environment:
You will be working on various worksites, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and weather conditions.
The role requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, often under supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (up to 30 kg).
Comfortable working in different weather conditions (rain, sun, wind) and environments (civil, factory, etc.).
Capable of performing repetitive tasks such as digging, loading/unloading, and manual lifting.
